Blending a physical and digital experience

We teamed up with R/GA to design and deliver a blended digital and physical experience that integrates and coordinates many moving parts to serve a business in the distilling industry.

We worked to deliver an integrated solution for an American whisky distillery.

We ensured seamless integration between the physical and digital experiences. This included configuring multiple marketing applications, third-party providers, and implementing Continuous Integration for software development and maintenance to deliver an organized and efficient end product.

Despite working with existing components, the complete development of both the BackEnd and the FrontEnd was necessary. Thus, we had to establish robust foundations to present a scalable and versatile solution.

Journey

We began by establishing a robust Drupal framework to create the entire BackEnd architecture. Building upon that foundation, we opted for Gatsby as the FrontEnd technology to develop a high-speed microsite.

Once these foundational elements were in place, we seamlessly integrated various components and third-party services, encompassing both digital and physical aspects. In this process, we also offered technical consulting to implement a robust Continuous Integration pipeline.

Our integrations included AnyRoad, an external service for managing registrations and tours; the CRM giant SalesForce; and Amazon Cognito, an application for user management.

Additionally, a digital quiz and QR code integration allowed us to mix the in-house tours with an extensive encyclopedia page that helps customers make the best custom choices when making a purchase. That’s how a new product was born.

Responding to R/GA's specific requirements, we provided full control of their servers, implemented a Continuous Integration pipeline, and introduced DevOps. To empower R/GA's internal development team, we offered technical consulting and mentoring, ensuring they had the autonomy and independence needed to manage operations effectively on their own.

We effectively fulfilled all of R/GA's requirements, seamlessly blending the physical experience with its digital counterpart and integrating all the moving parts throughout their virtual workplace.

The development commenced from scratch, allowing us to deliver to R/GA all the customization and personalization they sought. Furthermore, the solutions implemented in this project are designed to be repurposed in the future for other branches and experiences within the same distilling brand.
